Chapter 114 Rose Came to the Rescue
“You’ve got a dirty heart, so you see everything as dirty,” the silver-haired madam said, her voice cold with disdain. She then turned to Athena, her expression softening. “Alright, you’ve got the video. I should go.”
“I’ll send you off!” Athena said quickly, eager to show her gratitude.
“No,” the silver-haired madam replied, shaking her head with a knowing smile. “Once I leave, someone here is bound to talk nonsense again.”
Athena couldn’t help but smile at the madam’s sharp wit. The silver-haired lady had an unmistakable air of elegance and authority, even when speaking so pointedly.
The madam’s gaze softened. She had always been a lover of beauty, drawn to appearances. When she was young, she had cared little for wealth or status—only for how someone looked. When she married, she had chosen a man who was charming to her eyes, regardless of his shortcomings.
Earlier that day, when she saw Athena sitting under the tree, reading to Alivia, something about the scene had drawn her in. The sunlight had fallen just right, bathing Athena in a golden glow. In that quiet moment, Athena had looked like she was shining herself.
As a lover of beauty, the madam had been captivated.
“That’s alright…” Athena smiled, a little helplessly. The madam’s sharp words and sarcasm always made her chuckle. There was no filter to her remarks, but Athena appreciated the honesty.
“Stay here, alright?” the madam insisted. “I have your business card. I’ll call you later.”
Athena hesitated, but the silver-haired madam refused to let her walk her out. Eventually, she and Jaxson disappeared into the thickening night, leaving Athena standing alone, her heart inexplicably tugged.
Perhaps it was the gentle affection she felt for someone as kind-hearted as Madam Stella, someone who had shown up just at the right time. It reminded Athena of Romy, the warmth and love she used to feel.
Meanwhile, in a Different Corner of the Hospital: Heather was not happy. She had just returned, composed, only to pass by the silver-haired madam.
“Ms. Madam Stella?” Heather called out, her tone laced with curiosity.
Rose turned with a warm smile. “Miss Ross, it’s been a while. I hear you’re engaged now. Congratulations.”
“Thank you.” Heather nodded quickly, still thrown off by the encounter. “Why are you here?”
“Visiting an old friend,” Rose replied casually, but with a slight twinkle in her eye.
Before Heather could press further, Jones hurried over to her. “Miss Ross, Mr. Crawford is losing his temper!”
Heather’s eyes widened. She turned toward the direction of Byron’s office, but Rose stopped her.
“Go on ahead, Miss Ross,” Rose said with a gentle smile, sensing Heather’s urgency.
“Ms. Rose Stella,” Heather asked quickly, “Have you been in Mailand recently?”
Rose nodded. “I’ll probably stay for a while.”
“Okay, I’ll call you later!” Heather said, already rushing off toward Byron’s office.
Back with Rose and Jaxson: Jaxson seemed lost in thought, his face a bit weary. His stomach growled softly, signaling his hunger.
Rose caught the sound and burst into laughter. “Hungry?”
Jaxson nodded sheepishly, his mood lightening despite the tension of the day.
Rose laughed again, teasing, “That’s terrible! Let’s hurry up and get something to eat, or you’ll lose weight!”
Jaxson rolled his eyes, unable to deny the humor in her words. They had been so caught up in everything else earlier that they hadn’t even thought about food.
As they left Aken’s, Jaxson had been so angry that he couldn’t eat. But after meeting Athena, the whole mood had shifted, and he felt almost at ease again.
Then, his thoughts turned to business.
“Ms. Rose Stella, Sir William hasn’t said a word. How can we find Natasha?” Jaxson asked, his voice lower now, more serious.
The mention of Natasha wiped the smile off Rose’s face. Her expression darkened.
“It’s impossible for Aken not to know. He’s Natasha’s adoptive father, and he treasures her. Even if they turned against each other later, he wouldn’t let Natasha return to her birth parents. He must know everything about her,” Rose said, her voice heavy with frustration.
She glanced up at the sky, letting out a deep sigh.
“Even if she’s really dead, I’m still going to find her,” Rose murmured, her resolve unwavering.
