Chapter 186 A Suddenly Appearing Uncle
Athena’s eyes narrowed as she assessed the situation. The man, who claimed to be her uncle, seemed more intent on making a scene than actually proving his relationship. Despite the pain from the bodyguard’s intervention, his arrogance didn’t waver.
“Let’s go now, or you’ll run away,” the man repeated, still trying to maintain control over the situation.
Athena glanced at Jaxson, who stood silently behind her, exuding a calm but undeniable strength. She then looked at the other bodyguards, who were also keeping a watchful eye on the intruders. She could feel the tension rising, but her resolve was steady.
“No one’s running anywhere,” Athena said, her voice unwavering. “You want to prove your claim? Fine. We’ll go for a DNA test. But I’m not going to be bullied into giving up what’s mine.”
She addressed the man’s companions coldly. “If you’re all so sure of his story, let’s settle this properly. Otherwise, don’t waste any more of my time. You’ve made your claim. Now prove it.”
The man glared at Athena, clearly frustrated but also realizing that pushing further would only result in more confrontation. He wiped blood from the corner of his mouth and stood up with the help of one of his companions.
“You think you can intimidate me?” he spat, though there was a slight tremor in his voice. “Fine. Let’s do your DNA test. But mark my words, you’ll regret this.”
Athena didn’t flinch. “The only thing I’ll regret is allowing someone like you to waste any more of my time.”
Maeve, still shaken but relieved Athena was taking charge, approached cautiously. “Athena, are you sure about this? He seems dangerous.”
Athena gave Maeve a reassuring smile, though the concern in her eyes was clear. “I’m sure. I’ll handle this. It’s better to settle this now than let it fester.”
The man and his group of followers didn’t dare to make a move immediately, realizing that Athena had made up her mind. They all stood there, glaring, but none moved to challenge her further.
Jaxson stepped forward, his imposing figure towering over the man. “We’ll arrange for the test. If it proves you’re telling the truth, we’ll deal with it then. But any further trouble, and I won’t hesitate to call the authorities.”
The man’s eyes flicked nervously to the bodyguards, then back at Athena. He was clearly out of his element, not expecting such a strong response. After a tense pause, he grumbled, “Fine. But this isn’t over. I’ll prove I’m right.”
Without another word, he turned and stormed off, his companions reluctantly following him. Athena watched them leave, her posture still strong and unyielding.
Once they were out of sight, Athena let out a long breath, her shoulders relaxing slightly. “Let’s go. I want this sorted out quickly.”
Maeve approached Athena again, looking relieved but still worried. “Are you sure this is the right path? This man… he doesn’t seem like he’s going to give up easily.”
“I’ll deal with it,” Athena said quietly. “And if he’s really my uncle, then we’ll figure this out. But if he’s just here to cause trouble, he’ll regret ever stepping foot on this property.”
As they made their way to the car, Athena felt a deep unease. The man’s sudden appearance raised too many questions. Had her grandparents really kept him a secret all these years? And why had he waited until now to make his claim?
There was still so much unknown, and Athena was determined to uncover the truth, no matter where it led.
