Chapter 236 Property
Rose’s eyes widened as she read the anonymous email. Her hands trembled slightly, but her resolve hardened as she processed the contents. The news about Athena’s pregnancy and abortion was a devastating blow. Rose’s mind raced with the implications of this information. If it was true, it could destroy Byron’s reputation, and by extension, his relationship with Athena. It would create a scandal that could ruin them both—perhaps even give her leverage over her son’s decisions.
She leaned back in her chair, deep in thought, the gears in her mind turning quickly. This piece of information was a weapon—an opportunity. She could use this to manipulate Byron, to further destabilize his relationship with Athena, and maybe even gain control over the situation with the inheritance.
But Rose also knew she had to be cautious. The email’s anonymous nature left a lot of questions unanswered. Who sent it? Why now? Could it be a trap? She couldn’t act recklessly, but she couldn’t afford to ignore it either.
After a moment of silence, she decided to act quickly. She forwarded the email to her trusted confidant and assistant, Jaxson, with instructions to dig deeper. She needed more details, and she needed them fast. No matter what, she couldn’t let this chance slip away.
Rose knew that controlling the narrative around Athena and Byron’s personal lives could give her the upper hand. The more secrets she uncovered, the more leverage she would have over them—and ultimately, the property she was after.
At the same time, she couldn’t forget her own troubles. Cato’s demands had only increased, and Lien’s growing desperation made her uneasy. Both of them were grasping at straws, and she was starting to wonder just how far they would go to secure their piece of the inheritance.
But that was another matter. For now, Athena’s abortion and the scandal surrounding it were the most pressing issues. Rose smiled coldly, feeling the weight of the situation settle upon her. She was about to start playing a very dangerous game, and she would make sure that everyone, especially Byron, would regret underestimating her.
Meanwhile, Cato and Lien sat in their luxurious but increasingly empty home, their minds still consumed by thoughts of the inheritance. Cato looked at Lien with a sense of urgency. “We need to do something fast. If Rose has really found Stacy’s daughter, everything we’ve planned could be for nothing.”
Lien’s lips curled into a wicked smile. “Don’t worry, darling. We’ll take care of this. We just need to get close to her. Make her trust us. Once she does, we can make sure all of this property is ours.”
Cato nodded, though a hint of doubt lingered in his eyes. “But what if she’s smarter than we think? What if she figures us out?”
Lien’s eyes darkened with determination. “We won’t let her figure anything out. We’ll make sure she feels at home with us. She’ll never suspect what we’re really after.”
As Cato and Lien plotted their next move, Rose was already one step ahead. The battle for the inheritance had only just begun, and the stakes had never been higher.
