Chapter 91 Athena and Baxter Shipper

“Why don’t you recognize me?” Baxter’s voice was soft, just like before. He still wore his silver-rimmed glasses, exuding that same gentle and mild demeanor, but there was a new edge to him now. He looked tougher, more mature.

“Athena, it’s been a long time,” he added with a warm, almost nostalgic smile.

“Athena, you didn’t even ask me how I got in touch with Baxter,” Evie teased, stressing his name playfully.

It had been during a physics tutoring class in the summer that Athena met Baxter. Evie and Athena had attended the same class together. Back then, their lives had been simple, dominated only by studies. They often stayed up late, talking about love and their dreams, and Evie was always certain that Athena and Baxter had the potential to fall in love with each other. Even now, she hadn’t fully let go of that belief.

“So, how did you two meet?” Athena responded to Evie’s question, though her gaze never lingered on Baxter.

Despite how Baxter had once been so desperate and passionate, Athena never felt the need to apologize or make amends for anything. She hadn’t been involved with him in a romantic way and had never made any promises. There were too many people vying for her attention to be responsible for each of them.

“He’s really impressive now,” Evie continued, eager to highlight Baxter’s accomplishments. “He won a physics award, and the year before last, he even came to our school as a visiting professor. I was shocked when I saw him with an elderly couple from abroad. I thought I had mistaken him for someone else!”

Athena took a sip of lemonade, nodding thoughtfully. “I see…”

Evie was still hoping to rekindle the connection between Athena and Baxter, urging them to sit together, but Athena’s indifference made it clear that there was no chance of that happening.

“Alright, everyone, please take your seats. Evie’s been a bit mischievous tonight, but don’t worry, I’ll treat you to drinks!” Athena said with a smile, trying to shift the attention away from the awkward situation.

The rich crowd, who had been waiting for a while, quickly gathered around Athena. Within moments, she was surrounded by several men, all eager to introduce themselves and make conversation. Athena, who wasn’t used to such attention, felt the eyes of the crowd on her.

Baxter, sitting in the corner, couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment. Athena’s indifference only deepened his sense of frustration, and seeing the younger men flocking around her made him feel even more disheartened. So, he sat alone, drinking by himself.

Athena, however, didn’t drink. She found a reasonable excuse: she needed to get up early for a meeting the next day.

The second floor of the bar was reserved as the owner’s private room. As the door opened, Milo, the boss of Charm Capital, stepped in, joining his friends who were already gathered around, drinking and chatting.

“Younger generations sure know how to enjoy themselves,” Milo remarked, settling onto the sofa.

Gideon, leaning back with a glass in hand, asked absentmindedly, “So, what’s the deal with them?”

“They’re choosing their lovers one by one,” Milo said, taking a sip of his drink.

“They’re learning from you, huh?” Gideon sneered, unimpressed.

“I’m a man!” Milo retorted, glancing out the window. “I heard from the bartender that two women came in tonight, surrounded by a group of handsome men.”

Gideon wasn’t interested. He already knew enough about Athena’s abilities and her preferences.

“Maybe they’re just two fat hags,” a wealthy young man joked, earning a laugh from the group.

Milo wagged a finger knowingly. “You’ve got it wrong this time. They’re not hags; they’re two very different kinds of beauties.”

“Will a beauty really pick a lover in a place like this?” one of the men questioned, doubtful.

“I knew you wouldn’t believe me, so I had someone secretly snap a couple of photos,” Milo said triumphantly. “I’ll post them in the group so you can see for yourselves!”
