Chapter 135
Shaun suddenly remembered how much he enjoyed spending time with Catherine. Without thinking too much, he scooped her up into his arms.
“Come on, let’s go rest for a while.”
Catherine blinked in confusion.
“Aren’t you working?”
“I thought you wanted me to take a break.”
“When did I say that?” she asked helplessly.
“You didn’t say it, but it was written all over your face.”
He carried her toward the bedroom.
Catherine was startled for a moment before quickly stopping him.
“Wait, I’m not feeling very well today.”
Shaun paused.
“What’s wrong?”
“My period started.”
A trace of disappointment flashed across his face, but it quickly disappeared.
“Then you should get some proper rest.”
Catherine secretly sighed in relief.
“Maybe I should sleep in my own room tonight.”
Shaun frowned.
“Why?”
“I don’t want to disturb you.”
“You won’t.”
His tone left little room for argument.
“Just stay here. If you feel uncomfortable during the night, it’ll be easier for me to help.”
With that, he headed toward the bathroom.
Later that night, Catherine found it difficult to fall asleep.
The cramps in her stomach came and went, making it impossible for her to get comfortable.
She shifted slightly under the blanket.
“Can’t sleep?”
Shaun’s voice suddenly came from beside her.
“I’m okay,” she whispered.
“You’re moving around every few minutes.”
After a pause, she finally admitted,
“My stomach hurts a little.”
Without another word, Shaun moved closer and gently placed his hand over her abdomen.
“Here?”
“Yes.”
His hand was warm.
He carefully massaged the area in slow circles.
The pressure was light and surprisingly soothing.
Gradually, the discomfort began to ease.
Catherine stared into the darkness, feeling a warmth spread through her heart that had nothing to do with the pain relief.
For the first time in a long while, she felt genuinely cared for.
The room gradually grew quiet.
Before long, both of them drifted into a peaceful sleep.
